About

We turn robotic welding cells into fully automatic systems.

Motofil Labs develops software, perception and process intelligence for industrial robotic welding. Our work starts from production problems and ends in products that can be deployed, supported and trusted on a factory floor.

Vision

Robot hardware is becoming a commodity. What separates productive welding automation from expensive equipment is the intelligence around it: how fast a cell can be programmed for a new part, how well it copes with real-world variation and how convincingly it proves the quality of what it produced. That is the layer we build.

How we engineer

Engineering principles

01

Industrial usefulness first

A technology succeeds when it can be commissioned, operated, diagnosed and supported repeatedly at customer sites.

02

Deterministic where possible

Geometry, optimisation and rules where they solve the problem. Learning methods where they add measurable value.

03

Engineers stay in control

Automation proposes, people approve. Every automatic decision can be reviewed and corrected.

04

Evidence over claims

We publish what we have validated, and we are explicit about the limits of each application.

Applied research

Our research programmes, from scan-to-CAD reconstruction to weld inspection, are run against defined industrial problems with partners who have them. Research is how we build the next product, not an end in itself.

Team

A multidisciplinary engineering team in robotics, software engineering, computer vision, computational geometry and welding, based in Portugal.
